The Fourth Meeting of the Sixth Executive Council of the China Membrane Industry Association was successfully held in Hangzhou.

On December 22, 2023, the fourth meeting of the Sixth Executive Council of the China Membrane Industry Association was held in Hangzhou. Attending the meeting were Zhao Jungui, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, along with 125 representatives, including executive council members from across the country, heads of various branch organizations, and representatives from award-winning enterprises. The meeting was chaired by Zheng Genjiang, Chairman of the Association.
As the host, Shen Haijun, Chairman of Southern Pump Industry Co., Ltd., delivered a welcome address. Mr. Shen stated that Southern Pump Industry, founded in 1991 and the largest subsidiary of China Environmental Protection Group—a state‑controlled publicly listed company—has been deeply engaged in the research and innovative development of pumps for membrane‑based water treatment. The company focuses on three key R&D priorities—energy efficiency, system integration, and intelligent technologies—continuously advancing product development and innovation to support the high‑quality growth of the membrane‑based water treatment sector.
Zhao Jungui, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, delivered a report titled “New Era, New Opportunities, New Mission—Reflections on the Modernization of the Petrochemical Industry.” Chairman Zhao provided an in-depth analysis and shared insights across six key areas, including the 2022 economic performance of the petrochemical sector, a thorough understanding of the new developments in the chemical industry in the new era, and the advancement of new chemical materials.
Subsequently, the meeting heard and approved the “Work Report of the Fourth Meeting of the Sixth Executive Council of the Association,” presented by Wang Jiwen, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Association. He noted that 2023 was a year of global turbulence, with China’s economy embarking on a post‑pandemic recovery and enterprises confronting numerous challenges—making it an extraordinary period in the history of China’s membrane industry. Over the past year, in line with the tasks and objectives set by the Council at the beginning of the year, the Association upheld the Party’s comprehensive leadership over its work, adhered to the overarching principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability and pursuing reform and innovation, and remained committed to serving the government, the industry, and its members. Through unity and determination, the Association overcame significant obstacles and actively advanced initiatives in party building, scientific and technological exchanges, standard-setting, training and exhibitions, science and technology awards, industry assessments, technical consulting, and enterprise surveys, achieving substantial progress and successfully fulfilling the year’s key objectives.
Secretary-General Wang Jiwen reported to the board members on nine key initiatives planned for 2024. He emphasized that, with the active participation and support of our broad membership and under the leadership and guidance of the national regulatory authorities, we will further enhance the Association’s work. Let us remain closely united within the China Membrane Industry Association family; while thoroughly studying General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and earnestly implementing the directives of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, we will adhere to the new development philosophy, accurately assess the situation, clarify our course, strengthen our resolve, pool our strengths, and overcome difficulties. By deeply putting into practice the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and accelerating the implementation of the “14th Five-Year Plan” for the Development of China’s Membrane Industry, we will achieve even more outstanding results and comprehensively advance the high-quality development of the membrane industry.
Subsequently, the meeting reviewed and approved the “Report on the Association’s 2023 Membership Fee Revenues and Expenditures,” presented by Vice Chairman Li Youqing.
Next, Vice Chairman Ruan Guoling of the Association read out proposals regarding adjustments to the Association’s vice chairmanship, the addition of executive directors and directors, the admission of new members, and the expulsion of certain members. The General Assembly unanimously approved the following: in accordance with the enterprises’ recommendations, Chen Qinghe, Deputy General Manager of Hainan Lisheng Water Purification Industrial Co., Ltd., and Xiao Hongkang, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Biyuan Membrane Technology Co., Ltd., were appointed as vice chairpersons of the Association; Jiangsu Jiutian High-Tech Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Jingyuan Membrane Technology Co., Ltd., and Changzhou Kangjie Special Nonwoven Fabric Co., Ltd. were added as executive director units; Bluestar (Hangzhou) Membrane Industry Co., Ltd. was admitted as a director unit; 15 new member enterprises joined the Association; and six member units were expelled from the Association for failing to pay membership dues or participate in Association activities over an extended period.
Subsequently, Ding Yayun, Deputy General Manager of Southern Pump Industry, delivered a special presentation on “Improving Pump Energy Efficiency and Applying Innovative Technologies in the Membrane Industry.”
At the conference, an awards ceremony was held to present the “2023 China Membrane Industry Patent Award,” the “2023 China Membrane Industry Outstanding Engineer Award,” and to confer the designation of “Membrane Industry Demonstration Base.”
In the afternoon, the conference featured lively discussions. The standing directors spoke freely, deliberated on the association’s work report, and offered constructive suggestions on the secretariat’s operations.
Finally, Zheng Genjiang, Chairman of the Association, summarized the meeting. He noted that China’s membrane industry will continue to enjoy rapid growth in the years ahead. However, due to the combined impact of various factors, the sector is currently facing difficulties and challenges unseen in recent years. Nevertheless, he believes these are only temporary; by uniting as one, maintaining strong confidence, rising to the occasion, and persisting in innovation, we will surely achieve new breakthroughs and propel the membrane industry to a new stage of development. In the coming year, the Membrane Association will approach all its tasks with unwavering confidence, boundless enthusiasm, and a conscientious, responsible work ethic, striving to deliver excellent service to all stakeholders.
Following the meeting, leaders of the China Membrane Industry Association and members of the Executive Council jointly visited the Nanfang Pump Industry plant, expressing strong approval of the company’s transformation from “manufacturing” to “intelligent manufacturing,” and fully recognizing its core competitiveness in key pump product quality and timely delivery of critical production capacity.
