Molecular sieve membrane support

Molecular sieve membrane supports are porous ceramic substrates fabricated by high‑temperature sintering of materials such as alumina and mullite. With support from the national 863 Program, Jiutian High‑Tech has, based on the growth characteristics of molecular sieve membranes, successfully developed specialized support technologies and products tailored to the membrane synthesis process. This is achieved through modification of the ceramic precursor, optimization of particle size distribution, and precise control of the sintering temperature‑ramp profile. The resulting supports exhibit a uniform pore size distribution, lack large‑pore defects, and possess surface properties conducive to molecular sieve membrane growth, yielding membranes with superior separation performance and excellent stability.

Product Advantages:

  1) The pore size distribution is uniform. Conventional support materials available on the market are generally not specifically designed for zeolite membrane synthesis and exhibit a broad pore size distribution, with large pores ranging from 5 to 10 μm. In contrast, zeolite membranes are used in nanoscale separation processes, where even a small number of large pores in the support can readily lead to defects in the membrane layer and compromise its stability. The mullite/alumina composite support features a uniform pore size distribution (around 1 μm) and virtually no large‑pore defects, resulting in zeolite membranes that are dense and highly stable.

  2) The support structure and surface properties are tunable, making it suitable for the growth of various types of molecular sieve membranes.

  3) High mechanical strength and excellent wear resistance. The proprietary support material used in the production of molecular sieve membranes must pass a 6 MPa high-pressure test, ensuring it remains resistant to fracture during operation.

  4) Resistant to organic solvents and high temperatures. The support can withstand sintering at temperatures as high as 1600°C, and being an inorganic ceramic material itself, it exhibits excellent resistance to organic solvents and superior thermal stability.
